Research Component (Deadline for This Semester: 30 April 2024)
The Psychology Department regards your exposure to psychological research as an educational experience. This is comparable to a laboratory section of introductory courses in other sciences, and it serves additionally to acquaint the student with a broad cross-section of contemporary psychological research. To ensure exposure to psychological research, all students in PSYB111/PSYC1000 General Psychology, PSYB150/PSYC1002 Personal and Social Competence, GESB016/GESB1009 Personal Growth and GESB017/GESB1010 Psychology of Everyday Life must fulfill the research component by writing papers summarizing research articles and/or participating in experiments. Your fulfillment of the research component constitutes 20% of your course grade. For this semester, you must complete the component by 30 April 2024. Please read the document Research Component: Guidelines for Participants (link provided below) very carefully, it will tell you what you need to do to complete the requirement.
If you are not yet 18 years old and choose to participate in SONA experiments, please give this permission form for your parent or legal guardian to complete. You do not need a permission form to do the paper writing option. Please return the completed permission form to the department office at E21-3053.
