Department of Psychology

The University of Macau (UM) is the only public comprehensive university in Macau. Leveraging this unique advantage, UM aims to establish itself as a world-class university with regional characteristics. English is its working language. The Department of Psychology is one of the most research active departments in UM. It is ranked 10th in Asia and 151-175 in the world by Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2019. UM provides the following postdoctoral and doctoral scholarships and faculty positions:

Postdoctoral Fellowship

– Monthly remuneration of MOP40,000 (close to 5,000 USD) for 12 months
– Annual conference/research travel allowance up to MOP20,000;
– Maximum contract period of 2 years.

Postdoctoral Associateship

– Monthly remuneration of MOP28,000 (3,500 USD);
– Annual conference/research travel allowance up to MOP14,000;
– Maximum contract period of 2 years.

PhD degree holders who have graduated within 2 years, or PhD students who are expected to graduate within 3 months from the application date.

PhD Scholarship

– Monthly stipend of MOP20,000 (2,500 USD) for 12 months;
– Conference or research-related travel allowance of MOP10,000 per year;
– Maximum period of 4 years.

PhD Assistantship

– Monthly stipend of MOP12,500 (up to MOP14,000 or 1,740 USD) for 12 months;
– Maximum period of 4 years.

Applicants seeking full-time PhD study in the UM should have bachelor or master’s degree with proven academic records.

Faculty Positions

Department of Psychology has faculty positions opening, whereas we are looking for someone with exemplary research and publication records. Salary is highly competitive with very low income tax rate.
